Precision GPS surveying is performed with a pair of Topcon Hiper+rovers with dual-frequency dual-constellation capability.  Real-time high precision positions broadcast by internet and/or FCC licensed radio at watts from our base.

Hydrographic Surveys with a launchable Zodiac  Boat with its "mother ship base" hosting 5 Hertz RTK GPS broadcast by internet and CDMA cell-phone modem connection to the respective State DOT networks.  The Office base station transmit each second to the Topcon-based Superior Network in Milldale,Ct, providing a private service alternative covering Connecticut and Long Island Sound. The Zodiac's rover unit is mounted over the 200-KHz narrow -cone depth sounder, with xyz results viewed in real-time by Carlson SurvCE data-collection software.

By a custom-programmed Earth Image application, these readings can be imported in real-time to an AutoCAD site drawing or ortho photo of the project.

Regulatory Mapping. Surface features are mapped by GPS, at times using lasers to precisely locate features.   For tree mapping assignments, a LaserTech Criterion 400 Forestry Laser permits optical fork measurement of tree diameter.  Our custom-designed software and data dictionaries allow collection of attributes such as species, size and condition for inclusion in municipal and private GIS databases or tree inventories in a variety of formats, including ArcView, DXF, and MS-Access .

Inter-tidal zone mapping, here pictured on Great South Bay, Long Island, delineates the critical regulatory interface between spartina and phragmites species, with accurate establishments of baselines and benchmarks in the prevailing State Plane Coordinate Grid and Datum.

GIS attributes can be added to the data dictionary, customized for each project.

Monument and Baseline Recovery.  This technology allows for the recovery and re-survey of the original triangulation monuments on the perimeter of Long Island Sound.  Here the recovery of the 1933 Byram, Connecticut breakwater disc allows for precise coordination of new construction in Port Chester Harbor.

Database of Control Monuments and High Precision Base Station.

These Federal Triangluation Survey Monuments were the key components of the original layouts of the harbors and channels serving New York and Connecticut.  Pictured left is the "Byram" station marking the entrance to Port Chester Harbor.

Set and Coordinate Custom Project Controls.

Robert Torres, GPS and survey technician  obtains a high precision fix in real time for the expanding control database of Earth Image's data resources.  These targets were built and placed for pre-flight photogrammetic control for coastal zone mapping.

Post-Process Static GPS Occupations.

During inital field sessions on site, a baseline is established with a pair of Topcon Hiper+ 40-channel receivers.  These log data for the full session, typically 4 to 8 hours.  In the office, corresponding data at the same interval is obtained from our own base-station (Part of the Superior Network, based in Milldale, Ct.)

Additional readings are downloaded from the national CORS system (NGS Continuously Operating Reference System) operated by the Connecticut and New York DOT Divisions.  All this data is post-processed together to resolve GPS vectors, and co-ordinate the baseline points in State Grid Coordinates and North American Vertical Datum of 1988 values.

This permits incorporation of public GIS off-site data into the project.

Map Historic Preservation Proposals and Character of the Neighborhood Studies for Zoning Variances.

In preserving historic structures and assisting owners to obtain building and property development permits, it is necessary to prepare site plans, detailing existing conditions, special features of concerns, and many of the characteristics of a lot that make its situation worthy of a variance of the regulations.

Earth Image Dot Net can prepare mapping studies to fulfill municipal, State and Federal review needs for permits.

In this scene the prior subdivision application bisected the historic garage in the background, forcing its demolition.  We propose boundary reconfiguration and variances to permit preservation of the structure, and the character of the neighborhood.

Radio Broadcast of RTK Control.

The Hiper+ GPS with Glonass takes advantage of the 11 additional satellites in the European Constellation of Global Navigation Satellites.  These augment the 24 "birds" of the American system to provide superior coverage, especially in sky-blocked or under-canopy sites.

Earth Image Dot Net is licensed by the FCC for twelve frequencies to broadcast a 35-watt radio signal to provide an extended range for real-time kinematic surveys using Pacific Crest radio components.
